A memorable Old Trafford win on this day seven years ago…

Manuel Pellegrini’s City side took home local bragging rights and piled the pressure onto Premier League leaders Chelsea with a convincing 3-0 Derby victory.

City were ahead inside 60 seconds when Edin Dzeko was on hand to tap home from close-range after Samir Nasri’s cleverly disguised effort had struck the woodwork.

That early goal set the tone for a dominant display, with the Bosnian adding to his tally before the hour with an inch-perfect, sidefoot volley which crashed in at the near post from a Nasri corner.

And there was just enough time for Yaya Toure to add a third late on, controlling James Milner’s cutback on his instep before smashing a low shot back across goal and out of reach of the despairing dive of David De Gea.

The victory moved City to within three points of first-placed Chelsea with two games in hand in a season where Manuel Pellegrini’s men would claim our second ever Premier League title.
