In a game in which clear cut chances where at a premium, City’s best opportunity fell to Riyad Mahrez, who fired straight at David De Gea after a slick counter-attack opened United up.
Raheem Sterling saw a shot blocked by Harry Maguire after an impressive run, whilst Gabriel Jesus blazed over under pressure from Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but for the most part it was a cagey affair played largely in midfield.
The home side’s biggest threat came from set-pieces, though they had a penalty overturned when Marcus Rashford was ruled offside prior to being fouled by Kyle Walker.
