Pep Guardiola‘s men have held a final training session ahead of Wednesday evening’s showdown at the Wankdorf Stadium to help prepare for the unique playing surface.
Akanji admits that it will present a new challenge against the Swiss champions, but is confident that he and his team-mates will be up to the task.
He explained: “Yeah it’s not the same. We’re not used to it but we train here today and will see how it is.
“It’s not my favourite, but it is what it is, we can’t change it and we will do our best.”
The Swiss international also reflected on City’s start to the campaign and our first defence of the Champions League title.
Pep Guardiola‘s side currently boast a 100% record in Group G following wins over RB Leipzig and Red Star Belgrade, Akanji revealed that the boss has called for an even greater attention to detail following last season’s historic treble.
Indeed, the defender insists that every opponent, particularly in European competition, has the ability to go the distance.
“The manager warned us since he’s experienced it before. We need to be even more focused.
