New signing Marc Guéhi says he can’t wait to play in Europe with Manchester City and admits he didn’t even dare dream of playing in the Champions League.

The 25-year-old England international has signed a five-and-a-half year contract at the Etihad that will take him through to the summer of 2031.

Guéhi isn’t available for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt but City will be able to add three new players to our European squad if we reach the knockout stage.

The defender says it would be a huge honour to play in Europe’s top competition and for a side that lifted the trophy in 2023.

“It’s something we’ve all watched growing up,” he said in his first interview after penning his deal with City.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say I had a dream because I didn’t even know. Because for me, at that age, it seemed too far.

“But it would be an amazing achievement and amazing honour to step out in front of City fans in the Champions League games. It’d be great.”

Guéhi is our second January signing following the arrival of exciting winger Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth earlier this month.

Our new No. 15 praised the quality of Pep Guardiola’s squad and is excited to be able to play his part for a team that consistently chases silverware.

“It’s a squad with an amazing experience within it, with so many players that have played at such a high level and won so many things but also with so many exciting young players who have come into the squad to do their best as well,” he added.

“There’s the arrival of Antoine who is an amazing player and who has proven himself in the Premier League. It’s fantastic.

“I just want to come in and help and just do my part, be one of the lads and just try and improve.”
