Enzo Maresca says he was impressed by the attacking impact of City winger Antoine Semenyo before his crucial double in our 5-3 victory over Sunderland.

Semenyo got his first goals of the season as he emphatically smashed home two strikes either side of half-time in a rollercoaster encounter at the Etihad Stadium.

He also claimed an assist for Rayan Cherki’s goal in a win that moves us three points clear at the top of the Premier League.

It was another impressive performance from the attacker as we made it seven wins out of seven in all competitions.

And the City boss is happy with his wide options with Jérémy Doku returning from injury and Iliman Ndiaye making a key contribution in the win over the Black Cats.

“[He was] very important but it’s not just because he scored two goals,” Maresca said in his postmatch news conference.

“Also when he didn’t score, he was good. Palace away, assist for Erling [Haaland] and at home [against Coventry] too. It’s not just about goals.

“For sure, in terms of wingers at the end it’s the final product. Jeremy played the balls inside and Iliman also played quite well.”
