The Croatian midfielder struck a superb second half rocket at Stamford Bridge to help seal an impressive 2-0 victory on the opening day of the season for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Pitted against his former club and with City seeking to extend a slender 1-0 advantage late in the second half, Kovacic picked up a loose pass just inside the Chelsea half, raced towards goal before spectacularly finding the target from distance against his former club.
