James McAtee has labelled his treble in the 8-0 FA Cup victory over Salford as 'special', as City cruised into the fourth round of the competition.

The Academy graduate scored our fifth, seventh and eighth of the evening at the Etihad Stadium, his first ever goals at our home.

Jeremy Doku netted twice, added to by goals from Divin Mubama, Nico O’Reilly and Jack Grealish.

WHEN IS THE FA CUP FOURTH ROUND DRAW?

McAtee, who was named Player of the Match after a prolific second-half performance, revealed his joy on full-time.

“I said it just in an interview before, that the first one was good enough, but obviously to get two more was a special, special moment for me.

“This is my first [hat-trick] in men’s football, but I’m sure I got a few when I was younger, but I don’t know.

“I think sometimes people get caught up trying to impress and like do too much, but I think if you’re just yourself, then hopefully everything goes well.”

The 22-year-old also spoke about what Pep Guardiola demanded from him prior to the game and touched on the performances of fellow Academy graduates Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and O’Reilly.
