Micah Hamilton said he hadn't quite come to terms with his performance in City's 3-2 Champions League win at Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old scored City’s opener just 19 minutes into his debut in senior football, collecting the ball on the right and firing high into the roof of the net.

It was the standout moment in a memorable first start for the Academy graduate who has been with the Club throughout his footballing education.

Shortly after the game the winger explained his emotions as he saw the ball fly beyond Omri Glazer.

“I don’t even know what to say, to be honest,” he started.

“I started by just trying to ease into the game and then the moment came. I took the opportunity and just went to celebrate.

“It’s not even sunk in yet!”

It was a special night for our Academy as Hamilton shared the pitch with Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb from the start before they were joined by substitutes Phil Foden and Mahamadou Susoho.

Hamilton was keen to praise the Academy for the way it prepares players for life at the top level.

“The Academy system is top at City,” he said.
