Pep Guardiola named five Academy graduates in the starting lineup at the Etihad Stadium in the form of James Trafford, Rico Lewis, Nico O’Reilly, Oscar Bobb and Mukasa, with trio Phil Foden, Charlie Gray and Stephen Mfuni on the bench.
Rayan Cherki opened the scoring just after the hour mark with a spectacular strike into the top corner, before Savinho’s deflected strike after the hour mark secured our spot in the semi-finals.

Mukasa, who made his full home debut in the victory, was full of praise for all the Academy graduates on display in his interview with City Studios after the game.
“Yeah I really enjoyed it. It was my home debut so I wanted to just go out there, enjoy myself and get the win, and that’s what happened.
“It was a great night. I think it sums the club up really.
“Although we attract the best players, we can produce players as well.
“So I think it was a great display out there tonight and showed what the Academy can do.”
Mukasa also spoke about Cherki’s stunning goal, revealed how Gray is feeling after his senior debut and reserved special praise for Abdukodir Khusanov.
