The Dutch international’s new deal sees him commit his future to the Club until the summer of 2027.
Having moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2020, Ake has gradually worked his way to becoming a key figure for Pep Guardiola’s men.
An intelligent and versatile defender, the 28-year-old has been consistently relied on to operate in both the heart of the City defence and as a full-back, winning six major honours during his time in Manchester so far.
He enjoyed a particular standout campaign during 2022/23, featuring 41 times en route to claiming the Treble.
His influence has even been felt at the sharp end of the pitch, with his clinical low finish in our FA Cup triumph over Arsenal last season perhaps the pick of the bunch.
An equally memorable moment occurred just over 12 months prior against the Gunners, when the Dutch international produced a remarkable goal-line clearance at full stretch to prevent the hosts from taking the lead.
City would go on to claim all three points, in a hugely significant victory en route to the Premier League title.
Ake has continued to go from strength to strength at the Etihad Stadium and, having agreed to extend his stay at the Club, is sure to enjoy plenty more memorable moments under Pep Guardiola’s watchful eye.
