The Dutch defender moved to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2020 and has been a huge part our recent success.
He was outstanding in last season’s Treble-winning season and the 28-year-old says he has felt at home since his switch to the Etihad Stadium.
“It feels amazing,” Ake said. “The first moment I came here, I really enjoyed the club. It felt really good.
“To be able to enjoy a few more years is a proud moment for me and my family. All these moments I have worked hard for.
“To be honest, it was an easy decision. I am so happy here. I think especially the last couple of years for me personally have been very good, very progressing.
“Working with this manager, the people above it, the backroom staff, everyone is such high quality and so nice. I enjoy every day to be here and then to renew your contract and to stay even longer is a no-brainer.”
Ake has become a firm favourite at the Etihad and was voted third in our Player of the Year awards behind Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.
He said he was grateful for the nomination and said it was extra special to be recognised in such a talented squad.
“To be voted third is crazy with the amount of talent we have in the squad and what kind of season everyone had last year,” he added.
“I really appreciate that from the fans. As you said, I feel it. The messages I get and when I walk on the street people will come up to me and say nice things. I have good conversations with the people.
“Being around during this period, winning all these trophies. That’s nice things to hear from fans. I feel the connection in that way and that helps certainly on the pitch when you go to the Etihad. The whole season they supported us so good and it helps for everyone.”
