Nathan Ake says he’s ready to ‘attack’ the new season following our pre-season curtain-raiser against Preston.

The defender’s debut season at City was frustrated by a hamstring injury, which limited him to just 13 appearances.

Despite his involvement at Euro 2020, the Dutchman declared that he’s been maintaining his fitness during the off season, and featured for the first 45 minutes of our Academy Stadium clash with the Lilywhites.

Speaking after our 2-0 victory, Ake insisted that he’s ready to tackle the new season head on, and is excited to be back with his teammates.

“I think last year was a strange pre-season and maybe that affected my whole season with injuries.

“This season for sure I’m going to do everything I can to make sure I’m 100% fit and ready to attack the season.

“It’s always good to be back. It’s nice to have little break but when you come back you feel happy straight away that you can play and be with the team.”
