Pep Guardiola insists the pleasure of winning the Premier League title never gets old.

A third domestic crown in four seasons was secured on Tuesday night when Manchester United were beaten by Leicester City at Old Trafford.

Victory at Newcastle on Friday would have been enough to claim the title, but United’s defeat means that City can no longer be caught at the summit.

With matches played behind closed doors and the added demands of the fixture schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this season has offered a unique challenge to every team across the footballing landscape.

But Guardiola declared that being crowned Premier League champions is always a satisfying achievement, regardless of the situation or circumstances surrounding it.

“It’s quite similar, it’s always difficult but always a pleasure,” he reflected in his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s trip to Newcastle on Friday evening.

“This one in the pandemic around the world makes this title a little different.

“But the pleasure to win and the amount effort behind it makes every title special in the Premier League. It’s so nice.”
