Nico O’Reilly says City had to put everything in to get three points from Saturday’s thrilling clash with Newcastle.

The 20-year-old was our star man, scoring both City goals in the first half either side of Lewis Hall’s deflected strike for the visitors.

Both sides had chances after that but the score remained at 2-1 thanks to a determined defensive effort as Eddie Howe’s side pressed for an equaliser.

Speaking after the game, O’Reilly says City will have to show that dedication in every game between now and the end of the season if we’re to satisfy our ambition for silverware.

“Huge result,” he began.

“We came into the game needing the three points and it closes the gap now so we’re buzzing with the win.

“They pushed us to the very end.

“They were throwing balls into the box throughout the second half.

“Everyone of us gave 120% effort and that’s what we’ll need every game.”
