The England international’s long-range effort drew City level at Goodison Park in our first domestic fixture since winning the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
The hosts had taken a first half lead through Jack Harrison, but Foden’s moment of brilliance turned the game on its head.
Picking up play on the City right from Bernardo Silva, the midfielder took a touch onto his favoured left foot before rifling a vicious low drive in at the near post.
It was a moment of brilliance from the England international and would prove the catalyst for a comeback victory as Pep Guardiola’s men ground out a 3-1 win.
Also named Etihad Player of the Month for December, Foden is enjoying some of the best football of his young career so far, having already grabbed 11 goals and eight assists in 30 appearances in all competitions across 2023/24.
It’s the first time the 23-year-old has claimed our Goal of the Month vote this season, with Rodrigo, Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku the other winners across the current campaign so far.
Congratulations to Phil on his latest award and thank you to everyone who voted!
