Matheus Nunes admitted it is hard to put into words how it felt to score the winner in the 94th minute against Aston Villa in the dramatic 2-1 Premier League victory.

Bernardo Silva struck us ahead after seven minutes, before Marcus Rashford levelled for the visitors from the penalty spot shortly after.

City pushed and probed for a winner in the second period and it finally came, four minutes into stoppage time.

Jeremy Doku escaped down the left flank and played an inviting cross to the back post, where the onrushing Nunes tapped in his first league goal for City, sending the Etihad Stadium into raptures.

MATCH REPORT: CITY 2-1 ASTON VILLA

“I mean, normally when the ball is on the left, I have to, as a full-back now, I have to be careful with the counter attack and see where the left winger of the opponent is and try to be aware of where I should be.” he said in an interview with City TV after the game.

“Because I saw it was the last minute I just went for it. Maybe kind of the same feeling as Nico [O’Reilly] had in the last game against Everton.

“It was just a gut feeling that I thought it’s the end of the game, I’m going to go for it. Happily I was there.

“I mean you can’t put it in words can you? It’s just something you feel.

“Even for the fans in the stands I think it’s an amazing feeling to win like this. But for us on the pitch, I can’t describe it in words. It’s an amazing feeling.”

The Portuguese also spoke about the tough test provided by Aston Villa and touched on the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
