Oleks Zinchenko has paid tribute to the impact of Ruben Dias in helping bring the best out of City’s collective defence.

Ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 second leg clash with Borussia Monchengladbach, City have so far conceded just one goal in our seven games in this season’s Champions League to date.

It’s a remarkable stat – and our back line has been in equally magnificent form in the Premier League with Saturday’s 3-0 success at Fulham registering our 16th league clean sheet of the season.

Asked to pinpoint the factors behind those impressive numbers, Zinchenko credited hard work but the Ukrainian left back also said the arrival of Ruben Dias had instilled huge confidence throughout City’s defensive ranks.

“I think one of the reasons in Ruben Dias. He is so important for us. Since he came, we have had that confidence,” Zinchenko asserted.

“It is not just because of that. The job John Stones, Ayermic Laporte, João Cancelo, Kyle Walker and the other defenders have done is incredible.

“The main reason I would say is because we have worked so hard. Simple as that.”
