On this day in 2014 Manchester City won the Premier League for the second time after a 2-0 victory over West Ham United secured the title.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side went into the final game of the season needing a point to be crowned champions and goals from Samir Nasri and Vincent Kompany ensured the captain lifted the trophy aloft to an ecstatic Etihad Stadium.

Nasri broke the deadlock six minutes before the break with a 20-yard drive he arrowed into the bottom corner and Kompany sealed the victory four minutes into the second half when he lashed home from close range after Edin Dzeko steered a corner into his path.

It was a title race which went to the wire, with City winning all of our final five games to pip a faltering Liverpool side and there was an outpouring of emotion from fans at full-time.
