Nico O'Reilly praised City's bravery, fearlessness and belief after fighting from a goal down to beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Rodrygo drilled the hosts ahead after 28 minutes, before O’Reilly scored his first Champions League goal seven minutes later to level affairs.

Erling Haaland coolly slotted in from the penalty sport before the interval with what proved to be the winner, claiming his 55th goal in the competition and taking City to 13 points from six League Phase fixtures.

Speaking to City Studios in an interview after the game, O’Reilly made special mention of City’s character to complete the impressive turnaround.

“Everyone wanted to get on the ball, everyone wanted to play. I’d say there was a lot of character out there tonight. I think that’s what got us over the line.

“We knew we could get goals back, so that wasn’t the problem.

“We just had to stay focused, not be scared by the environment and the counter attacks they were causing. And that was it.

“We’re all on a high right now. We need to keep pushing and keep going.”

O’Reilly also spoke about his delight at getting on the scoresheet and stressed the importance of pushing for a top-eight finish in the League Phase of the competition.
