The German goalkeeper has signed a three-year contract at the Etihad Stadium after his contract at Arminia Bielefeld expired.
Having spent more than a decade in German football with Bielefeld and 1860 Munich, Ortega Moreno knows it will be a big adjustment to play in the manner expected of a goalkeeper at City – but that he is ready to rise to the challenge.
“It is one of the reasons why I wanted to join this club,” he said.
“I know the style of Pep and I love to see how Man City play football. I think I have the quality to also show this performance.”
While the 29-year-old enjoys a joke in the dressing room, he insists fans and team-mates will see a fierce competitor every time he takes to the pitch.
“I think I am a good teammate and I make a lot of jokes! But on the pitch, I want to win every game. Whether it is a training game or a real game, I am ambitious and I want to reach the top.
“I think I am a modern goalkeeper, good with my feet and a good shot stopper. But I think I am not at my highest level now, so I hope Xabi [Mancisidor, Goalkeeping Coach] can help me a lot.”
