An Erling Haaland brace allied to a brilliant Phil Foden strike helped see off the challenge of talented and dangerous Palace side.
Haaland opened the scoring on 41 minutes with a superb header before Foden then extended his own rich vein of form with a crucial second for City 21 minutes from time.
Master marksman Haaland then set the seal on victory by converting his second goal from the penalty spot a minute from time.
