Despite the Norwegian bagging a hat-trick in the derby against Manchester United on Sunday, the striker was unhappy the margin of victory was not greater with the Reds scoring twice late on.
Gomez added that he is learning as much as he can from his City teammate and has praised the way he has gone about his duties in the opening few months of the season.
“When I am in the dugout, I enjoy Erling the same way the fans do. He is an outstanding player. We are aware of how good he is,” he said.
“I am trying to learn as much from him as I can. He has desire - he doesn’t settle for one goal. In the derby after we conceded, he was disappointed because he wanted a clean sheet.”
The 22-year-old spoke to the press on Tuesday afternoon ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League match against FC Copenhagen at the Etihad Stadium.
