Pep Guardiola insists Friday’s FA Cup match with Arsenal will have little bearing on the upcoming Premier League clashes between the sides.

City host Mikel Arteta’s side in the fourth round of the prestigious competition on Friday, with both league matches between the clubs to follow before the end of April.

We have won six of the seven fixtures against Arsenal since Arteta left City for North London, with the only defeat coming in the semi-final of the 2019/20 FA Cup.

HOW TO FOLLOW CITY V ARSENAL

It’s widely considered that the league meetings will go a long way to deciding this year’s Premier League winners but Guardiola doesn’t believe the outcome of Friday’s match will be an important factor in those games.

“We can win the game being much, much, much worse than them or we can lose being much, much, much better than them,” he said.

“It will be different at the Emirates and different [at home in the league]. Of course tomorrow we play and see what they do and see what we do.

“I’m pretty sure that for the second one we will change something, either players or the way we play. Maybe they will do something we don’t expect or we do something they don’t expect.”
