Pep Guardiola said that Sergio Aguero was edging closer to a return to action in the wake of Sunday’s 1-0 win at Arsenal.

As with last Wednesday’s 3-1 success at Everton, our all-time record goalscorer was an unused substitute at the Emirates with the boss mindful of carefully managing Sergio’s fitness after a lengthy spell out on the sidelines.

But, addressing the media in his post-match press conference after our 18th consecutive win in all competitions – and an 11th successive away success which equalled a Club record, the boss insisted that Aguero’s ‘time was coming.’

“I am looking forward to putting him in,” Guardiola declared. “We cannot forget he was a long time injured and you get rhythm when you play minutes.

“But he deserves to play and I want it. I want to say keep working hard and your time is coming.

“It’s about his physical condition - he was one year injured; he only played a few minutes.

“I want to be sure for him - for us as well - but for him.”
