And looking ahead to the tie with City holding a 2-1 first leg advantage, Guardiola pointed to the confidence and belief he had in his players after their record-breaking exploits of this season.

“We have an opportunity tomorrow. It’s a pleasure. And we are already the first team qualified for the Champions League,” the boss asserted at his pre-match press conference.
“So now, 11 years in a row we will be in the Champions League. No team in the Premier League has ever done 11 in a row, that is fantastic.
“After 27 wins in 29 games, if i don’t trust players we would have a big, big problem. I would be crazy.”
