Pep Guardiola said some of City’s players currently recovering from injury ‘trained really good’ and could be available for a cameo against Bournemouth this weekend.

The Blues have been managing several key absences in recent weeks with another away trip against the Cherries looming this Saturday at 15:00 (UK) in the Premier League.

But Guardiola insisted City’s cluster of away fixtures wouldn’t be used as an excuse, adding that some of those returning stars were back in training on Friday.

One such player currently recovering from injury is Kevin De Bruyne, and the boss added that the Belgian has made positive steps in the past few days.

“He’s getting better,” Guardiola said of De Bruyne.

“The last two or three days, the doctor said he made a step forward in terms of pain.

On City’s away matches, he continued: “I said the same: it is what it is, we will see what happens with travel.

“There’s less recovery time but I would say we are used to playing in this situation and these circumstances, maybe not this extreme. That’s this situation.

“The players are coming back. Some of them that were out today, they trained really good. Maybe they can help us for a few minutes tomorrow.

“But at the end, there’s the circumstances right now, except Rodri. Unfortunately, the rest, sooner or later, they are going to come back.”
