Pep Guardiola says he has no intention of resting any players for Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford despite the upcoming World Cup finals.

The game at the Etihad Stadium (kick-off 12:30pm GMT) is the last before we break for the tournament in Qatar until mid-December.

But the City boss says he has not been contacted by any country’s football federation requesting for players to be taken out of the action.

“Absolutely we are not going to rest players for the national teams,” Guardiola revealed at Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“I didn’t get [any request]. It’s not necessary to call me. My advice is don’t call me.”

The countdown to the opening fixture of the World Cup has begun with the bulk of our squad joining up with their respective nations following the game on Saturday.

Guardiola says he has seen full commitment in our recent games and asked his players to stay focused for our last match for more than a month.

“What I have seen so far, against Chelsea and the previous one against Fulham, 10 against 11, the commitment for what they have to do is 100%,” he added.

“But it’s the last game. So most of the players after the game they leave to go to their own countries to play with their national teams.

“I am pretty sure they are packing their luggage and this is a dangerous thing.

“They have to stay. We have spoken about that a few times in the last days - still four days, still three days. Stay here, don’t leave, stay here. And after you have time to think about the national team.”
