Pep Guardiola says Manchester City still have room for improvement after beating Burnley 2-0 to record a 13th consecutive victory in all competitions.

First half goals from Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling did the damage at Turf Moor, where City’s fine form continued with another dominant display that restored our three-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Our level of control was highlighted by the Clarets failure to register a single shot on target, but, having watched his team stretch their unbeaten run to 20 games, Guardiola still believes City improve.

“We can do better,” he said at his post-match press conference.

“In general, I don’t have regrets with the team. The players are fantastic.”

Guardiola felt the win in Lancashire provided an important reminder of the importance of doing the basics well.

The City boss was frustrated to see his players concede possession cheaply on several occasions and whilst it is something he will address, he remained particularly pleased with his side’s efforts in the final third.

“Today some players lost simple balls,” he added.

“That is the only thing I am concerned about and I will talk with them. I am not asking them for complicated things. It is the effort and the simple things - do it well.

“We are trying to do it but today we lost more simple balls than usual.

“In general, I am satisfied because we continued being solid and we created enough chances to score more goals today. This is important.

“Coming here, against Burnley away, is always difficult and today we did really well again.”
