Pep Guardiola says he has no concerns after Erling Haaland failed to score in Manchester City’s Community Shield defeat to Liverpool and is sure the striker will help us in our pursuit of trophies this season.

Haaland started as he made his debut in the 3-1 defeat at the King Power Stadium, where he had a goal disallowed and sent a golden opportunity over the bar with City chasing the game late on.

The boss admitted he was not worried by that miss and remains certain that Haaland will prove his credentials this season.

“He is strong,” said Guardiola at his post-match press conference.

“He missed it and another time he will put it in the net. It happened - it’s football. He had another goal disallowed because the ball was out of the line.

“He has this talent and he will do it. I am not concerned or worried about that.

“I would be happy if he scored and we win but we have a long season ahead of us. It is so intense.

“He is going to help us, I am pretty sure about that.”
