Pep Guardiola says City won’t be deflected by outside title talk and are happy to instead focus solely on seeking to maintain our fine start to 2021.

Though we are unbeaten in 14 games across all competitions, our rise up the Premier League table has gone somewhat under the radar with Liverpool and latterly Manchester United contesting top spot over the past few weeks.

However, addressing the media ahead of Sunday’s crucial Premier League game at home to Crystal Palace, the City boss said the squad were unconcerned at the title focus elsewhere.

“I don’t think the players are upset or angry that people don’t consider us contenders or that United or Liverpool are better than us,” Guardiola insisted.

“It is about playing good against Chelsea, United, Brighton. This is the best way to approach the next ones.

“I think teams get confidence for the next game from how you performed in the last game.

“Visualise that we are in a good moment. If you dream to be top of the Premier League, if you don’t play good, you won’t get it.

“I have the feeling the players are committed for every game to do what we have done for many, many years. They know what we need to do.”
