Pep Guardiola believes City’s success so far this season wouldn't be possible without the ‘humanity’ and ‘quality’ of the players at his disposal.

City could be crowned Premier League champions for a third time in four years this weekend if we beat Crystal Palace and other results swing in our favour.

That comes after we claimed our first piece of silverware this season in the Carabao Cup against Tottenham, before earning a huge Champions League semi-final first leg victory over Paris Saint-Germain over the past week.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s early kick-off against the Eagles, Guardiola insisted that the players’ work ethic, togetherness and focus have been essential in reaching this position.

“The success of the season so far is the humanity and quality of players,” the boss declared in his pre-match press conference.

“The second is not thinking much outside of the next game, and we did it.

“All the managers want to ask players to express themselves, who they are as a team and everyone has their own identity.

“In important and decisive games you don’t have a second chance.

“Tomorrow Crystal Palace is important, but we have more games, when you play knock out games like Chelsea, Spurs, Paris, there’s no chance.

“It was the humanity and quality of the players, without that, you can ask, suggest or demand something, but if they don’t have it it won’t happen.”
