City are seventh in the League Phase with seven points from the first three games courtesy of victories over Napoli and Villarreal and a draw in Monaco.
The Blues have five more matches remaining in this stage of the elite competition, starting with Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad on Wednesday, kick-off 20:00 (UK).
What follows are home games against Bayer Leverkusen and Galatasaray and away examinations at Real Madrid and Bodo/Glimt.
Guardiola is evening nine more points to make it into the Round of 16.
And the boss stresses the importance of matches on home soil in front of our supporters.
“Massive!” he said when discussing upcoming home games.
“Always in the Champions League in the old format, if you make nine points home and one victory away always you will qualify.
“Now it’s completely different. I’m not saying it will be easy because Dortmund in this competition, they always perform their best and always arrive in the latter stage and always go through in the group stages.
“With nine points more we would, of course, qualify and be close to being in the first eight.”
MATCH PREVIEW | CITY V DORTMUND
City didn’t make it the second stage last time out as we were defeated in the play-offs by Real Madrid over two legs.
Referencing that disappointment, the manager said injuries hit hard at the wrong time.
“Last season was injuries,” he added.
“Especially in that period when we had a lot of games that defines the Champions League qualification.
“We were prepared for that format and the old one, it was just last season we didn’t have players and that was more difficult.”
