Pep Guardiola says Erling Haaland copes well with the pressure of the high expectations put on him.

Last season’s top scorer leads the Premier League charts again with nine goals from our opening nine matches.

For most strikers, not scoring for three successive matches would not be noteworthy, but it has been described as a drought for Haaland.

The City number nine smashed in a superb 20-yard strike against Brighton in the 2-1 victory that sent us back to the top of the Premier League.

Guardiola said Haaland and all his players are determined to chase more success after the historic Treble we won last season.

“The expectations are so high but he handles it really well,” the boss said. “He knows he could have scored even more goals in the first nine Premier League games.

“The Treble had a lot of influence on all of us, me included. We need to be there close and arrive in the final decisive months close to our opponents to try again.

“No one has won four in a row ever so that’s how difficult it is. In this period, you have to go through Champions League and qualify.

“After Young Boys at home hopefully we can be there and then just focus on Premier League, Premier League, Premier League and that is the target.

“We cannot deny after two defeats in a row to break that position it was really important.”
