Pep Guardiola reflected fondly on Goodison Park’s legacy ahead of City’s last ever game at Everton’s historic home.

The Toffees will move out this summer after 133 years, meaning Saturday’s 15:00 (UK) start will be our 100th and final visit.

98 of our previous 99 meetings have come against Everton, with the 1904 FA Cup semi-final victory over Sheffield Wednesday the anomaly.

Pep gives squad update before Everton

With City fifth in the Premier League and seeking to qualify for the Champions League football for next season, there’ll be little room for sentimentality from Guardiola’s squad.

However, the Catalan did use Friday’s press conference to praise the storied arena and look ahead to next year’s visit to the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

“Goodison Park is so special, like many of the old traditional stadiums in England from the past,” he began.

“Go to Fulham, Villa Park. You feel the special atmosphere. The clubs grow and I’m pretty sure the new stadium will be be more comfortable.

“It’s a nice place to go, difficult one of course but nice.”
