The City striker now has 42 goals in 37 appearances and followed up his five goals in the Champions League victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday, with his sixth hat-trick of the season.
He became just the sixth player to score more than 40 goals in a season in the Premier League era and is closing in on the record of 44 held by Mohamed Salah and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Asked what his total could eventually be, Guardiola says people have to be careful with their expectations of the 22-year-old.
“I don’t know the number,” he said. “This guy will have a problem in the future because every game, people expect him to score three goals.
“He is so positive in his life and optimistic and when that happens, always good things are going to happen.
“He never complains and as much as he plays well, the goals are there.”
Julian Alvarez was also on the scoresheet with two goals in the week where he signed a contract extension that keeps him at the Club until 2028.
Guardiola praised the two young strikers who again showed that they are a dangerous pairing when they both start.
“Look at Julian again,” he added. “What a partnership, when they play together they score goals.
“The target numbers [of Haaland] I don’t know, but when we play with rhythm we score goals.
“He played one hour and he is so effective and incredible in his joy of life and he is always optimistic.”
