We take on the Reds on Saturday in the FA Cup quarter-final at the Etihad with a 12:45 (UK) kick-off for TNT Sports cameras.
And, with the latest battle very much on the horizon, Good Friday’s press conference offered Guardiola the chance to discuss the rivalry with the Merseysiders.
Guardiola has come up against Arne Slot and before him, Jurgen Klopp, as both sides have competed for trophies across a swathe of competitions.
The City boss is relishing this upcoming encounter and says his team must replicate the performance at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final triumph over Arsenal to progress to the last four.
“I have said many times, it has been the biggest rival,” said Pep.
“It’s a team that made an incredible investment last season to be there for many, many years.
“It’s in the Champions League. It’s a top contender with top class players all of them and hopefully we perform the level like we did against Arsenal to make the next step.”
