The Croatian defender now has five in seven games in all competitions and scored the crucial opener at Craven Cottage to set us on the road to an important victory which moved us top of the Premier League table.
Guardiola described the opener as “fantastic” but says the 22-year-old can still improve.
Asked if he expected his goal contribution, the boss said: “No. Some headers and set pieces, yes.
“Second half he didn’t play good, he lost the ball a lot. For defenders the most important thing is to play safe. Play so simple, that’s the most difficult thing.
“After he scores goals, it’s more than welcome, but it’s not his job.”

Gvardiol scored City’s third and considered going for a hat-trick when we were awarded a penalty in stoppage time for a foul on Julian Alvarez.
The Argentinian strike converted the spot-kick himself with goal difference still a potential way to separate City and title challengers, although Guardiola doesn’t expect it.
“To be involved with goal difference we have to draw, and they have to win and their goal difference difference would be higher,” he said.
“I don’t think it will be the difference. How many times we’ve score five or more, a lot. Since they lost versus [Aston] Villa, the destiny is in our hands and it’s what we want.
“We never won at Spurs except for the FA Cup, so it will be difficult but we’re ready for the challenge.”
