In front of a sell-out crowd at the Camping World Stadium, the 28-year-old scored a fine goal on 60 minutes to draw City level at 2-2.
He was a constant danger throughout, and Guardiola says Grealish’s desire to make decisive impact was one of the real positives on the night for City.
“He was aggressive,” Guardiola said.
“I know in controlling the ball he is good, but [tonight] he made four or five shots.
“This is what it is - he has to prove himself, but I am really pleased with the game he played.”
Meanwhile, the boss says he can see gradual improvements in our performances.
This was our third pre-season game of the summer on US soil, and despite suffering three defeats, Guardiola says he sees a team getting better each time they step on to the pitch.
“Every game we are getting better - our condition is getting better,” he said.
“Rico [Lewis], again, thank you so much, Oscar [Bobb], Nico [O’Reilly]... all.
“Kalvin [Phillips] made an excellent performance today.
“Josko [Gvardiol] the first minutes, Kova [Mateo Kovacic] the first minutes, so yeah that’s really good.”
