Pep Guardiola says there are several players in his squad who could lead the line in Erling Haaland's absence.

The talismanic Norwegian striker has been ruled out for five to seven weeks after suffering an injury to his left ankle in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final win at Bournemouth.

And while there can be no direct replacement for one of the world’s greatest marksmen, Guardiola is pleased with the choice of personnel who can play at the top of his formation.

Pep provides Haaland injury update

Ahead of Wednesday’s visit of Leicester City, the boss was asked whether January signing Omar Marmoush is ready to play as the focal point.

The Catalan responded positively, but also namechecked several players who could do the same.

“He [Marmoush] can play there,” Pep began.

“Phil [Foden] can play there, Macca [James McAtee] can play there, Oscar Bobb can play there. There are players that can play there.”

On Marmoush, he elaborated that the Egyptian forward is a keen goal threat.

“He likes to play close to the box. He loves to score and he has a sense of goal definitely,” said Guardiola.
