Pep Guardiola has highlighted how tough it is for any side to win at Liverpool after Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League victory.

City were the better side for much of the afternoon but fell behind in the 74th minute to an unstoppable Dominik Szoboszlai free kick.

We responded emphatically, with Bernardo Silva and an Erling Haaland penalty turning the score around for just our third win at Anfield in the Premier League era.

It also earned us our first league double over Liverpool since 1936/37.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Guardiola was asked just how much it means to win on Merseyside.

“It’s so difficult. Anfield is Anfield,” he began.

“The tradition, the history, the crowd.

“It looks smaller, tighter, the pitch does not look the size of the Etihad.

“The players they have and everything.

“Of course we would be disappointed [if we lost] and the questions would be it’s over.

“Six is better than nine but it’s still a lot considering Arsenal and how strong they are in all departments.”
