Pep Guardiola says Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker were ‘so good’ in their understanding of what they needed to do in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

With a busy fixture schedule as well as an international break, the City boss says he has little time to work with the players on the training pitch.

Preparations for the visit of Jurgen Klopp’s side were restricted to brief sessions on the pitch with Guardiola talking to his players about their roles.

And he praised the two defenders as City enjoyed 60% possession against Liverpool with the build-up leading to twice as many attempts on goal as the visitors.

“We spoke with Ruben and Kyle in Chelsea, they just have to understand what they have to do,” Guardiola said.

“If they lose the ball, they lose the ball, but what’s important is the way you have to move and in the spaces they move.

“It depends on what they do and [against Liverpool] they were so good. I know what I’m talking about, I can show you the videos!”
