Pep Guardiola says placing too much emphasis on individual performances would be to the detriment of Manchester City’s current form.

City have won nine Premier League games in a row ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool, but, perhaps surprisingly for a team at the top of the table, our scoring charts are led by seven goal Ilkay Gundogan.

However, Guardiola is unconcerned about individual statistics, believing it would be dangerous for City to become over reliant on one or two players.

“Our best top scorer in the Premier League is seven goals, we are in 13th or 14th position,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“If we don’t understand that we have done everything so far all together, if we don’t continue to understand this, we are going to drop.

“Anyone can save us. It will be the team. The group. When we believe I am going do it or the guy next to me will win the game, we are going to lose.

“Our success all the time we are together is the quality of the players, but being a team.

“In the individual statistics we are far away from the best clubs, but the statistics as a team are really good. That’s why we are first.”
