Pep Guardiola says Manchester City will need to be patient against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

City host the Eagles in the day’s late kick-off at 19:15 (UK) and go into the game having failed to beat the visitors at the Etihad Stadium in each of the last two seasons.

Guardiola expects Palace will set-up to counter attack and to exploit set-piece opportunities and is predicting Roy Hodgson’s side will pose a tough test.

“It’s a team you have to be patient against,” he told mancity.com.

“They punish your mistakes. They have quality up front, with Zaha and Benteke. They have experienced guys in midfield and defence.

“They know exactly what they have to do. I expect them to defend deep, wait for set pieces and the right moment to punish us.”
