Pep Guardiola says City’s Manchester derby performance was better than what we have produced in some of the games we have won this season.

Bruno Fernandes’ second minute penalty and a second half strike from Luke Shaw was enough for Manchester United to end our 21 game winning streak, with Guardiola acknowledging the early goal made life difficult for his team.

However, the City boss was pleased with the response from his players and felt the performance eclipsed the win over West Ham United last weekend.

“It is important to consider how we played whether we win or lose,” he said at his post-match press conference.

“I am pretty sure that after we won games lately, that this was going to happen.

“Congratulations to Man United for the victory. We conceded the first goal against a tough team and they are so strong so it was so difficult.

“After the first goal, for the first 5-10 mins we were a little bit out but after that we came back to the game.

“For example, we played much better than we did against West Ham when we perhaps didn’t deserve three points.”
