The Spaniard’s illustrious 10-year spell will come to an end this summer, but Guardiola says there has been no let up from his captain, who he says has been faultless in his efforts on the training ground.

“It is difficult if the behaviour is not like David has been behaving,” he said when asked if it was challenging to manage the swansong of the midfielder’s City career.
“That would be a problem, but that is not the case.
“I was talking with my staff and someone said: ‘I have never seen a player like David. He is committed to absolutely everything he does’.
“It doesn’t matter what happens this season, he has played more than 300 games.
“He is part of the incredible history of this club. He is one of the greatest. There is no doubt about that.
“He’s going to help us and we’ll try to help him finish in the best way.”
