Pep Guardiola says his team's mentality will be the most important factor if Manchester City are to win the FA Cup and Champions League this season.

City delivered a timely reminder of our credentials with the 4-0 defeat of Premier League champions Liverpool and whilst it was a welcome boost, Guardiola does not believe it will have any bearing on our cup success.

“Every game is different to the other one, but I cannot deny that beating Liverpool the way we did, gives us a feeling,” he said ahead of City’s trip to Southampton on Sunday.

“We faced this game and beat maybe the best team in the world right now.

“Every game will be different. Arsenal play a different way. Madrid play a different way. You have to adjust.

“What I want is to arrive with the best condition possible for these games and after, put mentality on the pitch.

“These games aren’t won with tactics, with ideas. It’s desire. It’s about wanting to do it. If a team wants to do it, they can be beaten, but it won’t be easy for the opponent.”

Guardiola also discussed Kevin De Bruyne‘s leadership qualities, Gabriel Jesus and what he learned about his players after lockdown.
