The City striker is rapidly closing in on 100 goals for the Club and continued his habit of scoring on the opening day of the Premier League campaign with an early strike at Chelsea last weekend.
And the boss believes the Norwegian’s restful summer and willingness to develop his playing style is already paying dividends.
“I like when he touched the ball. I like when he scores goals, definitely, that’s his role,” said Pep.
“But I like when in the right moment he’s dropping, keeping [the ball] and recognising he needs to be involved in the situation, but I see him fit – much, much better than last season in these stages and this is the important thing.
“We only have one game a week, so the recovery is better. But after the international break starts the crazy schedule. That’s why we’ll see what happens.
“In football, the most difficult position is central striker surrounded by two central defenders [or even] three.
“The [centre-backs] go to help the full backs, but now they have 2 or 3 players on him.
“It’s not easy to find the spaces but be patient and what I’m saying is when you feel spaces here, to move in that way by dropping. You have to.
“The ability to keep the ball and play - and let’s not forget he’s still a young player only 24 years old.”
