Pep Guardiola has described what it takes to consistently challenge for the Premier League title ahead of our final match of the season against Aston Villa.

City welcome the Villans to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday 22 May knowing victory would secure a fourth Premier League title in five seasons.

However, with Liverpool sitting just one point behind Guardiola’s men before the final round of fixtures, there can be no slip-ups if we are to turn that ambition into a reality.

And ahead of what is sure to be a thrilling finale to the campaign, the boss has explained the demands placed on a side pushing for silverware on a regular basis.

He said: “It is more difficult (to win the Premier League). There are lots of weeks, games, struggles with injuries and bad moments, tough opponents.

“The success is being there all the time in the last five years, except the year when Liverpool were unstoppable, (we have been there).

“It’s every day, when you fight in the Premier League and fight until the end, it gives you happiness. You are happier when you win.

“It’s not a cup, it’s a routine. Doing a routine is most difficult in our lives.

“If you are not happy you want these great experiences. The Premier League is routine.”
