Pep Guardiola this week has his eyes firmly fixed on qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages.

Guardiola’s City face Young Boys on Tuesday, with a 20:00 (UK) kick-off at the Etihad Stadium.

The Blues have won our first three games 3-1, with Red Star Belgrade, RB Leipzig and Young Boys all seen off impressively.

Those results have us top of Group G with a maximum nine points, three ahead of Leipzig in second on six points with Young Boys and Red Star trailing in third and fourth respectively on the solitary point.

City are one of only four teams to boast a perfect record in the 2023/24 competition, alongside Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Another victory on home soil this week in Matchday Four would ensure progress for us through to the next phase of the competition.

It would be a big moment insisted Guardiola.

“So important. More than you can imagine,” stressed the boss.

“Because we park the car until February and we can focus especially on the Premier League and the other ones.

“So it’s really, really important, yes. We have to close it on Tuesday, definitely.

“Champions League we are one game away from qualifying automatically.
