City fan Mazzulla enjoyed a weekend in Manchester to watch the Treble winners both play and train.
After attending Saturday’s Chelsea game, on Sunday he met up with Guardiola as the pair exchanged jerseys at the CFA and also watched on as the team started their preparations for the Brentford clash.
The 35-year-old was here in the UK with his family for a whistle-stop trip due to a break in his NBA schedule because of the All-Star weekend.
Guardiola, a big fan of Mazzulla’s work, spoke about catching up with him as he chatted to the media in his press conference this afternoon.
“Of course. It was a pleasure to host him,” said the boss when asked if he enjoyed the meet-up.
“We were in touch last month and he said he would like to come to a game.
“With it being the All-Stars in the NBA, he had a few days here with his family and after he’s back to his business in Massachusetts.
“It was really, really nice to have him here with his family.”
Mazzulla is making waves in the NBA this season, with the Celtics topping the Eastern Conference and the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division and boasting the No.1 record overall for defence and offense in the NBA.
And Mazzulla himself reached an impressive milestone this past Wednesday - in just his second year with the Celtics – earning his 100th win after Boston’s 136-86 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
